“The rain didn’t stop anyone. 40 061 dancing scouts together with Daniel Lemma, Sanna Nielsen, Kate Ryan and Europe made sure that the 22nd World Scout Jamboree ended with a bang! Besides singing and dancing, the show contained speeches from H.M. the King of Sweden and the camp chiefs Marie Reinecke and Göran Hägerdal, together with Luc Panissod from the World Organisation of the Scout Movement.

The ceremony, and the 22nd World Scout Jamboree, ended with fantastic musical fireworks and the flag handed over to Japan, host of the 23rd World Scout Jamboree 2015.” Read more about the 22nd World Scout Jamboree at scout.org.

Scout Week in Taizé

The Scout Week in Taizé is a joint initiative of the ICCS and the Community of Taizé and took place for the first time in the year 2009. Since then Scouts from all European countries and the Mediterranean Region regularly come together in Taizé for this event. There they take part in the weekly youth meetings and discover together their spiritual roots. The Scout Week in Taize has been designed to help young scout leaders to view their daily life in the light of the Gospel: praying together three times a day, reflecting on the wellsprings of the faith, exploring the Promise, the Law, and the Principles of Scouting. Common activities like hikes, games and singing are also part of the programme as-well-as learning to know the diverse traditions of the other Scouts.

Simply Scouting – Welcome to Sweden!

The 22nd WSJ in Sweden will encourage meetings between those from different cultures, religions, countries and contingents. Participants will get to know those who live outside of their own local community and find that strangers can become friends. Meetings will take place everywhere, from module activities to subcamp life, from small camp fires to huge arena events. All aspects of the camp will encourage meetings: the schedule, the programme and even the site design!!

CSAI starts a project to strengthen the scout movement through quality and quantity

Catholic Scouting in Israel is facing challenges in membership growth and development. This weekend, 30.04.-01.05.2011, the CSAI started a project to strengthen the scout movement through quality and quantity. The CSAI met at the national headquarters – the Nazareth Scout Center, reflected on it´s strengths and discussed a new vision and mission statement. The CSAI is seeking to ask and find answers to questions such as: “How can scouting become more attractive for children and youth?”, “How can scouting reach out to dedicated volunteers to support the leadership?” and “How can scouting strengthen commitment and development towards the scout movement and the society?” Raed Haddad, Chief Commissioner of the CSAI: “I am very happy about the outcomes of this weekend. The participants showed openess, willingness and strength to work on this important issue. I am looking forward to continue this process and want to invite our other members to join us. Together we will enable children, youth and volunteers to develop self-confidence, leadership skills and to take on responsible roles within the scout movement, the family and society.”
